He was a steamboat-owner and politician. Before joining the Council, Jeanneret was connected with the Bank of New South Wales and actively engaged in farming, mining and preserving meat. By 1869, he was the Manager of the Parramatta River Steam Co and later the Manager of the Parramatta and Hunter's Hill Steam Ferry Co. His steamboat service operation extended to Gosford and the Hawkesbury and by 1884, he owned the Mosman's and Neutral Bay Ferry Co. He was also an Alderman of Hunter's Hill and its Mayor in 1870-1871. Member of the Electric Lighting Committee, 1895-1898 and the Fishmarket Inquiry, 1898-1899. Jeanneret was elected MLA for Carcoar, 1887-1894. He was a prominent Freemason and one of the oldest members of Lodge Harmony. He was born on 9 February 1834 and died on 23 August 1898. ADB.
