He was a butcher and mining speculator. O'Connor was an active supporter of the Catholic Association and founding Chairman of the Catholic Truth Society in 1871. He represented West Sydney in the Legislative Assembly from 1877 to 1891 and was the Postmaster-General in 1885 and 1889. He was born on 13 September 1844 and died on 24 January 1914.
