McElhone was Lord Mayor in 1922. He was a member of the Works Committee, 1909-1910 and 1927; the Electric Lighting Committee, 1909-1927; the Finance Committee, 1909-1912 and 1919-1921; and the Health and Bay-Laws Committee, 1919-1829. McElhone was an M.B.E. He was born on 22 December 1871 and died on 20 April 1932.
