Unique IDA-00441591SeriesReports of the Improvement Committee, 1843-1887 [Municipal Council of Sydney]DateBetween 11th September 1885 and 26th November 1885FormatVolume - Leather BoundDescriptionReport of the Improvement Committee: Memo from City Surveyor's Office reporting and giving estimate for kerbing and guttering of the northern side of Park Rd to the City Boundary; noting that instructions have been given to lay a pipe drain from Leinster St to the pipe crossing under Park Rd to correct the nuisance in the reserve; Letter from Jas Chas Pratt, Strathleven, Moore Park Road, referring to stench from the reserve, allegedly described by Ald Withers on inspection as "nothing better than an open cesspit" and reporting on the poor drainage of the neighbourhood which also receives discharge from Paddington; Memo from Adrien C Mountain, City Surveyor, stating money is already voted for forming and metalling and giving estimate for kerbing and guttering; Letter from JC Pratt noting that Paddington Council has laid pipes across Leinster St which divert drainage onto vacant land, part of Sydney Common, and then onto Park Road via a rough cut channel; Letter from Thomas Kerrigan, Moore Park Road opposite Rifle Butts, builder of three houses and occupying one of them complaining of the poor drainage and need for further kerbing and guttering.LanguageEnglish (eng)Digitised recordNo
