City Surveyor notes that ballast is in great demand in the city and the quarry of great value to the Corporation. He cannot recommend that it be given up unless fair value is obtained for its use. A further letter was sent stating that the contractors: propose to open up the quarry leaving a good face; quarry and deliver free to the Corporation 1500 tons of spalls; and, lay an iron road to the quarry under the direction of the City Surveyor.
