As instructed I report on the turncock in employ of the Corporation and a paid officer of an Insurance Company. The only paid officers are Mr Bown & his nephew. If [City] turncock is present whilst a fire raging, he receives a gratuity, in like manner to all brigade men & volunteers. During Mayoralty of Mr Williams, application was made to allow Dickman to join the Fire Brigade and was granted. From information supplied, only gratuity for attendance to Dickman is entirely to night fires.
