"It seems marvellous to any person, except those who know our Sydney ways, that a public recreation ground should be allowed to remain so long in such a disgraceful state." City Surveyor was asked to report and said that the ground could be levelled and dressed from the Sydney Common Fund should the Mayor approve, but that nothing could be done about the section of the Park occupied by the Government which was storing tramway cars and rails there. A letter from the Government Railways stated that no more cars would be placed there and that rails as needed would be drawn from the stock in the Park and should be all gone in a short while. City Surveyor responded that Government should be required to remove the rails "within say one (1) month" and Council should consider the improvements suggested in his previous memo.LanguageEnglish (eng)Digitised recordYes
