Undersigned proprietors and drivers of cabs in the metropolis, noted that George St opp Riley Bros covered in some preparation, resulting in easy motion of our vehicles and less noise. We resolved to ask to adopt same improvement on the blocks of the City. Notes: HJD: City Surv.for observations. RWR: petition from cabmen, in pencil asking for top dressing of wood blocks similar to that opp St Andrew's Cathedral. They may not be authentic, as no identification or location. I do not think topdressing referenced has not been sufficiently long in wear, so cost would bar its consideration. The top dressing of tar and sand would serve equally well.
