Rise in water consumption. Maximum supply of 33 million gallons per week. During drought of 1880, brought down to 24 millions by adoption of salt water for street watering and other expedients. Kept up new mains construction in the suburbs. Winter consumption has now risen from 24M (per 1880) to 28M. Summer consumption will rise, and exceed system capacity.
