Arrival in London - The Town Clerk, Mr. R. M. McC. Anderson, has received a letter from Chevalier Auguste Wiegand, dated from 5 Evelyn Mansions, Queen's Club Gardens, West Kensington, London, on September 6, in which the late city organist announces that on his arrival in England so many applications from all parts awaited him that he was compelled to abandon his American tour. He and his family were well at the time, but complained of the cold. The Chevalier went on to say that he was glad he had returned to London and regretted not doing so sooner. Among other engagements, he had arranged to go to Cologne in November to play at the musical festival. and had been ordered to hold himself In readiness to play before the Queen, who was expected in London at the time of writing. Auguste Wiegand was born at Liege, Belgium, on October 16, 1849, and died 26 May 1904, Oswego, New York, United States of America.
