Mr. W. G. Layton, 82, a former Town Clerk of Sydney, died after a heart attack at his home at Blaxland. Mr. Layton joined the Sydney Municipal Council service in 1885 as a junior clerk at the age of 16. [ref: Singleton Argus, 24 August 1949]
