1889 News articles: INFANTICIDE. The death of a fully-developed male infant, which had been found in a siltpit, in Premier- lane, Woolloomooloo, on Tuesday, formed the subject of an inquiry before the City Coroner yesterday afternoon. the discovery had been made by two corporation laborers named Thomas Joyce and James Bourke, who re- ported the matter. A piece of red flannel and twill cloth was wrapped around the corpse, which was conveyed by Constable M'Lean to the morgue at South Sydney. Dr. Sinclair certified that death had been occasioned by hemorrhage consequent upon laceration of the umbilical chord. A verdict of wilful murder against some person or persons unknown was returned.
