Unique IDCC-000093DateBetween 1st January 1842 and 31st December 1842Date qualifiercircaMediumPhotograph - PrintDescriptionView looking north along George Street with the Old Sydney Burial Ground (later the site of Sydney Town Hall), the Corporation markets and the Police court and office by John Rae, 1842. This print shows the Jewish synagogue, Police Offices, the Markets and the Old Burial Ground, now the site of Sydney Town Hall. The original view was recorded as a sketch by John Rae (1813 - 1900) who held the position of town clerk between 1843 and 1857. In the 1890s, Rae assembled sets of photographs of the sketches he drew of Sydney in 1842.
