This collection is about the Crown Street Reservoir. The Reservoir was completed in 1859 and was part of the early Botany Swamps water scheme. Water was pumped from Botany Pumping Station to Crown Street Reservoir, and later to Paddington Reservoir. The Crown Street Reservoir is the oldest water supply reservoir still in use in Australia and and still supplies water, now from Warragamba Dam, to the inner city of Sydney. It features a brick underground water reservoir with a turfed roof and a capacity of about 14 megalitres.
