Special Committee of Enquiry into City Surveyor's Department
Unique IDAG-0105DescriptionThis Committee was appointed to enquire into the "question of the capacity of men employed as masons, paviors, etc, and the general administration of the City Surveyor's Department".
On 1 November 1904 the Works Committee (CA 48) had recommended that the "services of the temporary staff Maintenance and Footway Branches, City Surveyor's Department ... be dispensed with". This recommendation was not approved by Council, but referred to this Special Committee which was elected on 13 December 1904.
