Unique IDAG-0122DescriptionThis Committee was responsible for the control, regulation and planning of new public ways and subdivisions, the rearrangement of existing public ways and parcels of land, and the improvement and embellishment of the City.
It was created in accordance with the provisions of Section 73 of the Sydney Corporation Act, 1932-1934. The constitution and scope of duties were in accordance with the provisions of Section 295, Division 2 of Part XIX - Town Planning - of the Sydney Corporation Act.
The Committee consisted of ten members of the Council, two from each ward. Council was replaced by Commissioners from 1967 to 1969 but the Committee continued to exist during this period with the three Commissioners, Vernon Treatt, J A L Shaw, and W W Pettingell comprising the Committee.
