Unique IDAG-0174DescriptionThe Lord Mayor's Kevin Costello Fund was set up in response to the illness and subsequent death of ex-Alderman Kevin Costello, for the provision of financial assistance to his family. Its inaugural meeting was held on 10 May, 1966. At this meeting the Lord Mayor was elected President of the Fund, Alderman Con Wallace Honorary Secretary and the Lord Mayor's Secretary Honorary Treasurer.
The committee's main responsibilities appeared to be the management of fund-raising activities and the control of funds accumulated. Membership of the committee was not restricted to those from the Council; external members were also involved, such as the Paddington Lions Club and private individuals.
It is not clear when the Fund was dissolved. The last meeting recorded in the minutes was on 31 May, 1966, but there is correspondence regarding the Fund up to 17 October 1966. As this last piece of correspondence deals with the deposit of funds into the bank account set up in the Fund's name, it would appear that this was the final result of the appeal.CreationMeeting of the Fund 10 May 1966AbolitionMeeting of the Fund 31 May 1966?
