The cards are controlled by the Resumption Claims Register (AS-0428) for the period 26/04/1906 to 07/09/1984.

The cards were created by the:
- Administration Department (AG-0003) for the period 01/01/1971 to 24/10/1984, and
- Town Clerks Department (AG-0040) for the period 26/04/1906 to 31/12/1970.

There are two sets of resumption claim packet cards in this series. The first is a yellow set of cards that is arranged numerically by claim number (from 1 to 2022). It served as a record of the movement and current status of resumption claim packets. The claim numbers were allocated from Resumption Claims Register, (AS-0428) 1906-1984.

The other set of cards are arranged alphabetically by name of the resumption (either a street or locality, eg Athlone Place). The cards with the resumption name are orange, and record the dates of the Council resolution to apply for the Governor's approval to resume the area, approval of the resumption, resolution to resume, the Governor's approval of publication of notice to resume, date of resumption notice and publication of the Notice in the Gazette and newspapers, including the gazette number and page number.

Within each resumption, there are blue cards arranged alphabetically by the name of the claimant. The cards record the claimant's name, nature of interest (eg owner), the location of the property, registered number, claim number and information about the valuation, claimant's solicitor and mortgage date. On the back of the card the following information is recorded: dates when the claim was served on the Town Clerk, reports on title and survey by the City Solicitor, valuer's report, City Solicitor's approval of the notice of valuation, note of valuation served on the claimant, amendments to the valuer's report, notice of valuation as authorised by Council and notice of valuation approved by the City Solicitor, date of agreed settlement, claims sent to City Solicitor for voucher preparation, completion of claims, receipt of deeds and date the papers were finally filed.
