They were created by:
- Municipal Engineers Department [South Sydney Municipal Council] (AG-0017) in the period 01/01/1968 to 01/01/1981, and
- City Engineers Department I (AG-0005) in the period 01/01/1962 to 01/01/1968.

The prints were found at Alexandria Town Hall in June 1988 by an archivist during survey and disposal of records stored at the depot behind Alexandria Town Hall.

The photographs were kept in rough alphabetical and allocated a single running number by Archives.
