The series contain copies of correspondence, minutes and reports, as well as departmental memos. Most of the papers are duplicates of papers in Town Clerk's Correspondence Files (AS-0034). The series was created by the Cleansing Department II (AG-0001).

The file cover was originally a City Engineer's Department Correspondence File. When the Cleansing Department was created ‘City Engineer's’ was crossed and replaced with ‘Cleansing’.

This series officially ended in 1978, when the files were centralised into Central Activity Files (AS-0116), and individual departments no longer had their own filing systems. However, the files in this series were used for some time after this.

The rest of this series was destroyed by the Cleansing Department.
