Master Negative Microfilm of Survey Definition of Alignment Plans

The plans depict survey definitions of alignment and include drawings of proposed subdivisions.

The original plans are drawn by surveyors on plan forms from the Land Titles Office and deposited at the LTO. A copy of the plan is then forwarded to Council for information, reference and certification (approval) where appropriate.

The plans are allocated an LTO number (deposited plan or DP number) and when lodged with Council each plan is assigned a City Engineer's Department catalogue number (S3B) and details are entered on an index card in CRS 504.

This series consist of only part of the entire S3B series. In 1977, the Department arranged for the microfilming of about 12,000 plans including S3B plans, however, for an unknown reason the plans in thus series were not filmed at that time. The aperture cards of the remaining S3B plans are found in CRS 99. The unfilmed plans were identified during the microfilming of City Engineer's Plans Project and microfilming was arranged.

The cards are arranged by plan number - S3B designates a survey definition of alignment plan, followed by a consecutive number and sheet number where numerous plans relate to the same street or job.
