Unique IDAS-0842Start dateBetween 1st July 1988 and 31st December 1988Start date qualifieryear onlyFormatManila Folder Volume - SoftcoverDescriptionThis series contains the papers accumulated by Kerry Nash in his position as Director of Information Systems, during the splitting of Sydney City Council and South Sydney City Council under the City of Sydney Act 1988. Nash was heavily involved in the setting up of the new Council.

The Act required the drawing up of new geographical boundaries for the two Councils, the holding of fresh elections, and the determination of functions and administrative structures for each Council. The three Commissioners who had replaced the elected Council on 26 March 1987, commissioned Jonson & Associates, Management Consultants, to advise them.

This series contains the working files set up by Nash to deal with the split of the Council. It Includes a set of blue folders labelled and numbered by him, a set of the reports prepared by Jonson & Associates, and a collection of newspaper clippings and media interview transcripts about the Council. They deal with functional arrangements, organisation charts, reduction in staff numbers, legislative and electoral matters, projected income for both Councils, the City of Sydney Act 1988, purchase of property for the new Council, and industrial disputes.

Items 1 to 19 are blue folders with their original numbering system, (CCOS/CCOSS 1, CCOS/CCOSS 2 etc). The rest of the items were received as loose papers and reports which have been placed in manilla folders and numbered by the Archives Section.
