Left has glassed-in verandah on second level and a wooden awning. Verandah (right) has wooden balcony and arched entrance door on second level. Painted brick facade at 44 Campbell St on R has sign which reads Ping, Fong Low, Cook Shop. This property had been occupied by Chinese for many years. In 1891, the listed tenant was Yee Chin, merchant. It was actually a gambling house, selling lottery tickets at the front of the shop and running fan-tan in the back rooms. In 1912 44 Campbell St was demolished and replaced by a large 4-storey building. In 1909 42 Campbell St was Moon Hong Jang Hop Kee & Co ( Chinese cookshop) and A.P.
