Intersection of College Street, Liverpool Street, Oxford Street and Wentworth Avenue. The foreground of the photograph is dominated by a striking art nouveau light standard. A traffic policeman stands on duty in the centre of the street to regulate the flow of carts, hansom cabs and trams. To the left is Andy Flanagan's Burdekin Hotel at 2-4 Oxford Street and on the right is Reuben Brasch's Hyde Park Corner large clothing store at 1-7 Oxford Street. Pedestrians and horse drawn carriages visible. Off to the left is Liverpool Street. Further along on the right is Buckinghams Store with the bell tower on the roof on the corner of Riley and Oxford Streets. Photo part of a series for the widening of Oxford Street between 1910-1914.
