Discussion on the course of action and the funds required for repairs or remodelling.

Includes background of the origins of the fountain. Architect Robert Woodward, who designed the El Alamein fountain, completed his proposal for the fountain in April 1966. It consisted of a number of large vertical umbrella shaped water jets, giving a symbolic illusion of a forest. Due to cost considerations, the original design was amended. Hearne Bros (Padstow) Pty Ltd won the tender in October 1968 to construct the fountain. Details of the equipment, materials, and original plantings are provided. By Resolution of Council dated 23 November 1970 it was named 'Endeavour Fountain'.

The City Engineer reported in January 1977 a fault with the Submersible Pleuger S181 Water Reticulation Pump for the Endeavour Fountain. As the unit is a special 4 stage turbine pump of German manufacture the original suppliers were called in to investigate, reporting substantial cavitation and bearing damage. Approval was granted in 10 February 1977 to remodel the fountain.
