As access to the memorial was impeded by building construction, it was suggested that asphalt be added. Subsequently a request was made to remove builder’s debris on the roadway in the vicinity of the memorial. The Memorial was erected by the Mothers, Wives and Widows of members of the A.I.F. It incorporates a drinking fountain and is known as Mothers and Wives Memorial to Soldiers.
