Harris reported the Council had accepted a tender from Messrs Topham Angus & Co for the construction of Cattle Saleyards at Homebush and had then sought funding. Having received advice that the Government would introduce a Bill to Parliament empowering the Council to raise funds, the Mayor communicated with the Manager of the Union Bank seeking interim funding. Work on the Yards has commenced under the supervision of the City Surveyor and a newly appointed Clerk of Works.
