The series also contains reports of special committees appointed to look into and report on particular matters; volumes of memoranda from the Town Clerk to committees, and some minutes of committees. Letters received and registered into the series AS-0026 that were referred to a committee are pasted into the volumes with the relevant report. This includes a large number of petitions.

Topics covered by committee reports were wide-ranging and covered many small matters within Council's jurisdiction. These included staff matters, police, plans for a new Sydney Town Hall, water supply improvements, drainage, etc. Some returns and estimates are included for the 1840s and 1850s reports.

This series is in the form of bound volumes which are indexed at the front according to the subject under consideration by the committee. There are also a number of folders with no index.
