Unique IDA-00505088SeriesLetters from City TreasurerDateBetween 31st December 1845 and 23rd January 1849FormatVolume - Leather BoundDescriptionMemo from City Treasurer to Town Clerk informing him that no portion of the City Rate and Police Rate which appear due up to 31 December 1845 has been collected during 1848 and that the large amount apparently in arrears arises chiefly from unoccupied houses and from the irregular manner in which the first assessment was made with many houses having been assessed twice; arrears accrued from that date to the end of 1847 arise chiefly from unoccupied houses and buildings that have been pulled down together with the difficulty alleged by the Collectors in recovering rates from the proprietors.LanguageEnglish (eng)Digitised recordNo
