Appended: Letter from William Brown drawing attention to the need to dredge near the wharf as the silting caused by the emptying of sewers on both sides of the wharf is endangering the piles and making it impossible for larger vessels to use the wharf; Brown states he purchased the lease from the insolvent estate of Clark; annotation by Edward Bell, City Engineer, stating the drains originating from Charltons Hotel and the foot of Market St do not endanger the piles and he does not consider the Corporation liable to use the steam dredge to clear the silt; Further letters from Brown; annotation by Bell with costs for dredging machine; Letter from the Department of Public Works, Harbour and River Branch, giving cost to use the dredging machine.LanguageEnglish (eng)Digitised recordNo
