Appended: Three letters from Wm Brown & Son, lessees of the Market Wharf, complaining of the siltage caused by the emptying of a sewer from Market and other streets into the water, current state of wharf and results of previous dredging; Letter from James Thorne, ship and insurance broker, 81 New Pitt St to Wm Brown and Son stating that if dredging has not been completed before the return of the SS Blackbird, he will be compelled to seek other wharf accommodation; Report of the Sub-Committee of the Finance Committee to inquire into extending the lease held by Brown & Son of the Market Wharf and into the necessity for the removal of silt at the Wharf recommending that the lease at its current expiry on 29 March 1867 be put up to public auction and that dredging is necessary without further delay.LanguageEnglish (eng)Digitised recordNo
