An indenture of lease was made from 30 March 1885 for six years between John Hughes and John Edward Renno; this lease was transferred several times and finally to Fanny Down. A further indenture of lease was made 26 March 1891 between the Trustees of John Hughes Estate and Down for six years. Council agreed to pay Fanny Down two thousand pounds [struck through and altered to] one thousand nine hundred and seventy eight pounds seven shillings and one penny.
