(Note: 17/8/71 Mr Bradridge report: MC. The designs for awnings submitted by Mr Hunt contain very important improvements viz.- the suspension of the awning and thereby dispensing with the use of posts on the Pitt St frontage, and in the George Street 2 posts are intended to be erected in the same length as in most cases four (4) are used - These improvements deserve to be encouraged by the Corporation but although entirely approving of the intention of the designer I cannot recommend the erection of awnings with such high roofs, as I believe that if such be permitted architects and other will consider it a precedent upon which to base their applications for further concessions until there will be no limit to the height to which roofs or awnings will be carried nor the purposes for which they may be used: TB; 31/8/71. 4/9/71 reply: CHW)LanguageEnglish (eng)Digitised recordYes
