(Note: 2/12/80 ackd. City Surveyor's report: CHW. pencil (for Clerk of Work to investigate & report.) This complaint of an accident alleged to have occured 23 days previously to any notification being received of it, renders it impossible for me to obtain particulars of the case. I know at this date that the street in question was still under the control of the road contractor, who, by his contract, is responsible for damages that may occur to persons in the street during the term of his contract: and I also know that the tramway officials were at work in altering & repairing the line in Botany Street at this period: but I can trace no instance of any dangerous hole being left in the roadway. I think that a more speedy complaint should be made in such cases, to enable a medical man to be sent by the Corporation to report on the extent of the injuries stated to have been caused: ACM; 13/12/80. 12/1/81 City Solicitor for report: JH.
