[Note: 26/10/59 Impvt Comttee: GS. 27/10/59 City Engineer for report: GS. Nothing has been done to the drain complained of to increase any nuisance which may have existed from it originally but in the works lately carried out have tended to abate it - the sewer which was always above water and open at the end, is now carried out to low water mark and is generally covered in - the cases which Mr Pacey mentioned to me, of a lady fainting occurred before the drain was covered in - I think the privy lately erected by the Bridge Company on the south side very likely to cause this nuisance if it exists now - it is an abomination which should be removed: EB; 7/11/59. 17/11/59 Water Comttee are informed thaat the remedy lies with themselves: GS]LanguageEnglish (eng)Digitised recordYes
