James Gilchrist, Secretary Bank of New South Wales replying to the Council's enquiry as to why they requested a two inch service pipe be laid on from the water main. The principal object is the prevention of fire. They also request that one service be made generally available throughout the building. Edward Bell, City Engineer, reports that this can be done and recommends that the Bank be supplied by meter in future or that it be charged under a special rate of £40 per annum.
