Mr Seymour reports that they did complain to him, with Mr Reynolds stating that his wife had informed him "that Mr Austin had offered her a half sovereign and a £1 note to lie down" but then the couple argued, the wife denying that she'd said this, and Inspector Seymour advised them to put the complaint in writing to the Mayor. He had informed the TC of the matter. Seymour also reported that "Mr Austin and Mrs Reynolds are very old and intimate friends" and that Austin and a fellow officer Mr Gould, had indeed called on the day in question but that nothing untoward had taken place.LanguageEnglish (eng)Digitised recordYes
