James Robertson, City Auditor, Central Chambers, 173 Pitt Street, Sydney reporting no further discrepancies apart from the £422.6.4d already identified. He notes the Treasurer has checked the books of the Cattle Sale Yards, the Sussex Street Markets and the Fish Markets but not the Belmore Markets. The Treasurer advised he had accepted the Department receipt recorded as evidence of payment to the Treasury. This mode of checking is not sufficient as Treasury receipts and the cash book are not balanced which enabled the clerk to misappropriate the funds.
