Timber posts better stand impact than iron. Mark Foy across St does not suffer damage to iron posts but location of tram lines puts road traffic on this side. Notes: City Surv. RWR: Timber certainly safer on impact, as not liable to fracture and collapse, but design not as smart and neat as design adopted by Council which was for uniformity for 1st class streets.
