Properties Committee II

Unique IDAG-0141DescriptionCA 141, Properties Committee II, 1993-1995 was a special committee of the whole Council and dealt with all matters relating to the management, maintenance, use, leasing, licensing and sale of Council property (including footways), and the use, leasing and purchase of non-Council property, and policies that affected property options. This committee was formed by a Resolution of Council of 28 June 1993, when four Standing Committees and one Special Committee were created, namely: CA 142, Finance Committee IV, 1993 + (later became the Corporate, Finance, Properties and Tenders Committee 1993 +); CA 140, Cultural and City Services Committee, 1993-1999; CA 143 Planning Committee III, 1993-1999; CA 144, Projects and Public Spaces Committee, 1993-1999; and CA 141, Properties Committee II, 1993-1995 (a special committee of the whole). At this time, the new CA 141, Properties Committee II, 1993-1995 inherited the property management functions from CA 45, Corporate and Community Services Committee, 1989-1993 and also took over the responsibility of managing footway licensing from CA 44 Works Committee III, 1989-1993.

Decisions on all property matters related to temporary use or lease of Council or public land for one week or less, footway licence applications (separate from footway leases), for outdoor cafes and hoarding permits are delegated by the Committee to the General Manager subject to conditions. Also, conflict between policies on property matters was handled and considered by the Properties Committee II.

Under the approved structure, the functions and operations of various standing committees are reviewed and determined each September, including the Properties Committee. The day and time of meetings of the Committee are decided by the Lord Mayor. Three of its members constitute a quorum for its meetings.

On 18 September 1995, the committee was abolished and amalgamated with CA 142 Finance Committee IV and became known as the Finance, Properties, Tenders Committee, 1995+.CreationResolution of Council 28 June 1993AbolitionResolution of Council 18 September 1995
