Unique IDAG-0225DescriptionThis agency was originally created as "Strategic Planning and Project Development" by the new CEO, Peter Seamer. The high level organisation chart accompanying the recommendation to Council stated the purpose of the unit was to " provide a framework for development and creates [sic] a series of projects that encourages growth and enhances environmental and community outcomes; manage the City's transport, traffic and access matters; develop planning strategies to create the new City Plan through new LEPs and DCPs."
In the administrative reorganistion proposed to the Council in 2006 (RoC 25 Sep 2006) this agency reappears as CIty Strategy and Design with a slightly different focus: transport matters were moved to a new division (CA240) and the new Sydney 2030 strategy has become a major business responsibility along with economic and environmental development.
Following the stepping down of Director Michael Harrison in April 2011 the division was abolished, with the following changes made to the reporting lines of the relevant business units: City Renewal, City Sustainability, City Strategy and Economic Development, and City Design transferred to the Chief Operations Office (CA251); and City Access and City Plan Development transferred to City Planning and Regulatory Services (CA209).
