Unique IDAY-0119DescriptionThis activity covers all aspects of the management of the Council's vehicle and heavy plant and equipment fleet, especially specialised items such as garbage compactor trucks, roadmaking machinery, and fixed plant such as the tar distillery.
The City established an operations depot at Bay Street Ultimo in 1903 and maintained its fleet from that site until Council amalgamations a century later. The City has always owned its fleet and maintained it through an internal service provision model. The Fleet Services unit supports Council operations by providing fleet management and maintenance services to internal customers. The unit is resourced by 25 permanent staff and utilises a range of specialised plant and equipment at Council’s Epsom Road Depot, Zetland. Current core business within the Fleet Services section includes; maintenance, servicing and repair of Council’s light fleet vehicles, heavy plant & equipment and small plant; asset management of Council’s light and heavy fleet including financial modelling, procurement, disposal, utilisation and related administration; management of Council’s bike fleet and car-pooling systems; specialised metal fabrication, welding, fitting and machining; driver assessment and education; and accident management and repair processing
