DescriptionThis series contains the Rate Books of Glebe Municipal Council. They were created by Glebe Municipal Council (AG-0066), 1859-1940. Records information about individual rated properties within the municipality, for purposes of collection of rates (local property taxes).

Information generally recorded for each property, is: address; names of owner, occupier, and lessee; very brief description of the property; and figures for rates levied and collected.

Arranged chronologically by rating years. Within each volume, arrangement is either by Ward then street, or alphabetically by street names. Many volumes are indexed to relate streets to folio numbers.

Volumes 1, 4, 6 and 62 are badly damaged by water stains, which have rendered much of the contents illegible.

Most of the items in this series have been microfilmed, but some items 664/122-124), transferred to the Archives after the initial transfer, have not been filmed yet.
