Unique IDAS-0761DateBetween 1st December 1947 and 6th July 1950Date qualifiercircaFormatVolume - HardcoverDescriptionThis handwritten volume recorded the Health Inspector's Reports on either a monthly or fortnightly basis from December 1, 1947 to January 5, 1950, and included a Complaints Register for the Redfern District from January 31, 1950 to July 6, 1950.

The Inspection Reports are addressed to the Mayor and Aldermen, and to the City Health/Medical Officer after the amalgamation. The Reports dealt with infectious diseases, and nuisances (under sections 64, 65 & 66 of the Public Health Act and amendments, and sections 281 - 289, and 317b of the Local Government Act, 1919). The Reports also concerned licenses issued under various ordinances for premises such as smallgoods and bakers shops, final notices, prosecutions, petitions, complaints received, building plans examined. Some general comments were included. Most of the inspections were carried out by R W Webb. This volume began when Redfern Municipal Council was a separate Council, when it was amalgamated with Sydney City Council in 1949 health inspections were still carried out on a district basis, so this book continued to be used. The volume contained some loose, typed Health Inspectors Reports.

The complaints register at the back of the volume records the address relating to the complaint, name, subject of the complaint, and action taken.
