Coverage appears to extend to all capital city newspapers and also NSW regional papers. In addition, there is some representation from journals relating to the entertainment industry and other trades. In addition to coverage of the Council itself, clippings relating to a wide range of other matters of interest to the Council are included. Examples include: the Olympic Games in Sydney, trams and light rail systems, arts (especially theatre performances) the republican debate, and local government matters generally.

When a batch of clippings is received from Media Monitoring, it is copied for distribution to the Lord Mayor, Councillors, and senior managers. Copies of the distribution lists are attached to each batch of clippings. The clippings comprising this series are a reference batch retained by the Public Affairs Unit. The unit was responsible for receipt and distribution.
