As part of the redevelopment, a new bus interchange (designed by the Government Architect Chris Johnson) was installed in Railway Square, the footpaths on George Street were widened, granite paving was installed, and the roadway was narrowed,

Prior to the laying of the new granite footpath, a photographic dilapidation survey was carried out on George Street to record the condition of the existing properties and footpath. Most of this series contains the folders of colour photographs. The photographs are accompanied by written descriptions of the properties, including address, date of inspection, current use of building (including business name), external façade, advertising signs and awnings. The report details any cracks or other damage to the facade of the buildings.
