Unique IDAS-0986DateBetween 1st March 1998 and 31st August 1999Date qualifiercircaFormatBinderDescriptionIn 1998, Council undertook a major project to upgrade the City's retail core, including Castlereagh, Pitt and Market Streets. The Project included widening the footpaths, installation of new street furniture (litter bins, seats, telephones, bollards, bus shelters, fruit flower and newspaper kiosks, public toilets), Smartpoles, trees, awnings and granite footpath paving. The Project Manager was Anne Greenway.

Stage 1 of the Upgrade comprised the western side of Castlereagh Street, the northern side of Market Street and the eastern side of Pitt Street. Stage 2 comprised the eastern side of Castlereagh Street, the southern side of Market Street, and the western side of Pitt Street.

Most of the official records relating to the Project are contained on files in CRS 950. This series contains copies of correspondence with the various contractors, monthly progress reports, requests for extension of time, and photographic records of the state of the buildings and footpaths prior to construction (dilapidation reports).
