Unique IDAS-1010Start dateBetween 1st June 1998 and 3rd May 1999Start date qualifiercircaFormatManila FolderDescriptionOn 22 June 1998, Council approved a development application lodged by Council's City Projects Division for a civic upgrading of Alfred Street. (DA 1998/00163). This project was part of an overall pre-Olympic City improvements program that included work on the retail core, Park Street, George Street and Railway Square, Cook and Phillip Park, Martin Place, Pitt Street South, and an upgrading of street furniture.

The redevelopment of Alfred Street included new paving and lighting, installation of Smartpoles, landscaping and reduction in traffic lanes, traffic re-routing and kerb alignment. On 3 August 1998, Council accepted the tender submitted by Reed Constructions Services Pty Ltd. for a total of $5,577,000.

This record series includes copies of the contract, and dilapidation photographs taken before construction work began.
