DescriptionThis series contains photographs submitted to South Sydney City Council as part of the consent conditions attached to development applications. This condition stated that "An archival record of the existing building in accordance with the NSW Heritage Office Guidelines is to be carried out prior to the approval of the construction certificate. The recording is to include a survey, photographs, slides and measured drawings. Copies of the Archival Record are to be lodged with South Sydney City Council and the State Library of NSW".

The series also includes photographs taken of Council properties such as the Paddington Reservoir and the Florence Bartley Library.

Some of the submissions include a history of the building, measured drawings, black and white prints and negatives, and colour slides. Others are more basic and contain photocopies of photographs only. Where possible, the relevant development application number has been listed.

Most of the items in this series date from the appointment of John Poulton as the Council's Heritage Planner in 1998.

Most of the photographs were taken by commercial photographers and although Council has the right to use the photographs, this right does not extend to Council allowing third parties to reproduce the images. Users will need to seek permission from the copyright holders to obtain prints.
