South Sydney City Council Planning and Building Department

Unique IDAG-0032DescriptionThe Planning and Building Department of South Sydney City Council was established by the City of Sydney Act 1988. The Act was proclaimed on 2 December 1988 to take effect from 1 January 1989.

The Act split the former Sydney City Council into two Councils - Sydney City Council and South Sydney City Council.

The Planning and Building Department inherited all of the functions for the South Sydney area belonging to CA 8, Planning and Building Department It consists of four branches which perform the following functions:

Planning Manager's Branch: processing of development applications, traffic planning, and strategic and statutory planning.

Customer Services Manager's Branch: customer inquiries and services, general planning information, issuing of planning certificates.

Administration Manager's Branch: budget management, issuing of licenses and notices, statistics, processing of correspondence; updating of registers.

Building Services Manager's Branch: Building surveyors, processing of building applications, building appeals.
